Atrium Glazing

We were contacted by one of our clients regarding glass breakages in their Glazed atrium, located 16 storeys high.

We helped the client identify the cause of the breakages and removed the broken glass to make the area safe until replacement units could be sourced. In total 3no. structurally glazed units with bespoke screen print design were required for replacement.

Objective:

The building is occupied by offices with prestigious tenants. Our client wished to carry out the works without any hindrance to the occupants office hours. A&C devised a schedule that would allow us to carry out the works ‘out of hours’ over 3 days that would leave all parties unaffected by the works.It was also important for us to match the glass to the existing specification at site.

Although not always possible, thanks to our experience and contacts within the industry we were able to match the product like for like, meaning that there would be no visible difference to the atrium after the replacements had been complete.A&C worked closely with building management to fulfil the requirements of both management and occupant expectations. The client required us to turn around the project as quickly as possible. To facilitate the quick turnaround we devised a new method of lifting the glass through the inside of the building rather than crane lifting the glass externally. In order to allow us to access the atrium safely we installed a temporary man safe system across the atrium to assist with our safe method of working. Changing the lifting method and location gave us more scope to deliver the works quickly, as it removed delays caused by inclement weather.

Outcome:

A&C completed the replacement of 3no. High specification structurally glazed glass units, matching the existing glass specification and delivering the works within the required time period for our client.
