Atrium Refurbishment

Our client tasked us with a full refurbishment of the atrium glazing at site. The atriums were suffering from numerous historic water leaks that previous repair works had been unable to repair.

Initially our client's plan was to fully replace the atrium at extremely high costs. We were able to offer a cost effective refurbishment project that would resolve the historic water ingress, replace broken glazing, clean and prolong the lifespan of the existing roof.

Project Details:

--> 4 month project

--> Replacement of Over 5000 LM of pressure plate and capping

--> 10no. High level glazing replacements

--> Special Designed Lightweight Access Scaffold

Objective:

Our objective was to provide a cost effective remedial project that would overhaul the external facade of the existing atrium roof system. The works would remedy historic leaking issues and prolong the life of the atrium. We also needed to consider that the work would need to be completed above a shopping centre during open hours.

A&C worked closely with building management and project managers Workman LLP, to provide a plan that would allow the works to be completed ‘in hours’ while keeping staff, shoppers and A&C engineers safe. We managed this by providing specialist combined safety netting below the working areas that provided a barrier between the atrium and Mall below. A designed lightweight scaffolding provided access to the atrium externally.

Outcome:

A&C completed the works safely and successfully, resolving historic water ingress issues and breakages. Works were complete without affecting trade within the shopping mall.
